Volunteers

There is no typical volunteer! Schoolhouse Volunteering offers a range of placements and welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds.

You should be aged 17 or over and in good health. Whatever your role, we expect all Schoolhouse volunteers to approach their placements in a professional manner. As volunteers will be working with children and young people a check of criminal records for offences against children is required.

Whatever your background or future direction, you can be sure that your experience will be invaluable. You'll develop self-reliance, self-confidence and communications skills. You'll have a whole set of skills that are highly valued in every community and work situation - skills that are hard to develop without stepping outside the normal routines of life.

You may decide to use your experience as a foundation for a career in teaching in general or teaching English in particular - a career where there is high worldwide demand. You may want to develop a future in development or community work or you may further your experience in the arts or in care work. Perhaps you'll assimilate all your experiences into a new lifestyle.
